The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, (KNUST) is taking decisive steps to strengthen alumni engagement, governance structures, and digital communication frameworks following a strategic meeting between University Management and leaders of the KNUST Alumni Association.

The alumni delegation, led by Nana Ansah Sasraku III, Mamfehene and Kyidomhene of the Akuapem Traditional Area, together with Mr. Herman Yobo Addae, Global President of the KNUST Alumni Association, met the Vice-Chancellor to present refined governance proposals after an earlier Alumni–University Strategy Alignment Workshop.

Dr. Addae explained that the visit was to brief management on structural changes, particularly regarding the Alumni and Advancement Relations Office Management Board. He proposed the formal inauguration of the Board by 9th March to ensure the smooth running of the Association.
He stressed the need to deepen alumni engagement at the college level through strengthened roles for college alumni representatives and liaison officers.
On fundraising, Dr. Addae announced plans to transform the “KNUST Day of Giving” into a broader season of giving to extend the timelines where alumni can give back to the University.
“One of the key things that came out was to move it from a single day and transform it into a season of giving possibly from October to January,” he said.
Addressing concerns about donor confidence, he added that funds would be channelled through the University’s Endowment Fund.
“The repeated feedback is the confidence people have in the Endowment Fund Board of Trustees. We thought we will put all these initiatives under the Endowment Fund,” he explained.
Nana Ansah Sasraku III reaffirmed the commitment of the alumni leadership to mobilising graduates worldwide to contribute meaningfully to the development and global advancement of KNUST.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, commended the delegation for its devotion to building a strong and united alumni body. She emphasised the importance of consolidating all alumni onto a single, credible platform to strengthen coordination and prevent impersonation.
Supporting this call, Mr. Kwasi Debrah, Assistant Registrar at the University Relations Office, underscored the urgent need for comprehensive communications, branding, and digital policy to safeguard the Association’s identity and ensure consistency across social media channels.
The Registrar, Mr. Benjamin Boampong Owusu, affirmed management’s commitment to developing a guiding policy framework to regulate communications, branding, and digital engagement.
